What?
Each semester, Boston College EMS is proud to offer an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic training course in partnership with Bay State EMS Educators! This intensive course includes over 150-hours of instruction and prepares students to take the written and practical EMT exams issued by the state of Massachusetts and the National Registry of EMTs. Students will have the opportunity to qualify for reciprocity in all 50 states. Students will learn all aspects of pre-hospital emergency care for injuries and illnesses within the scope of practice of an EMT-B, and practice patient assessments and emergency procedures. There are no course prerequisites, but students must attend all class sessions and pass written and practical exam
When?
The Winter/Spring 2026 course begins Monday, January 26, 2026, and will end on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Weekly meeting times for the course are as follows:
Sundays from 9AM – 5PM
Mondays and Wednesdays from 6PM – 10PM
100% class attendance is required
*All college holidays will be observed
Where?
In person classes take place on Boston College’s campus in Higgins Hall. The final practical exam will either be offered at Boston College or at a testing facility nearby. More details will be provided after registration.

The course fee is $1800. Please note this total includes books, materials, and uniform shirt. Tuition does not include examination and/or state certification fees.
BCEMS offers a scholarship opportunity to any BC student, faculty, or affiliate interested in this Bay State EMS course offered at Boston College. This scholarship covers the full tuition of the class and is offered on a limited basis following the completion of the application below.
The scholarship application is due by Friday, January 16th, 2026 by 11:59PM EST.

The Winter/Spring 2026 EMT-B class will be offered to everyone interested.
