CPR Classes

Boston College EMS offers a variety of American Heart Association CPR classes not only to its members but to the entire university community. A list of upcoming scheduled classes are listed below, however if you, your club, or department would like to schedule a class, please contact the CPR Education Coordinators, Nick Favazza and Claire Grosgogeat (cpr.ed@bostoncollegeems.com).
The BLS for Healthcare Providers Course (BCLS) covers core material such as adult and pediatric CPR (including two-rescuer scenarios and use off the bag mask), foreign-body airway obstruction, and automated external defibrillation. This course is designed for healthcare providers such as EMS personnel, physician assistants, doctors, dentists, and nurses, who must have a credential documenting successful completion of a CPR course, or to others, who wish to learn the most in-depth version of CPR available.
This course satisfies the requirements for BC nursing students and Boston College EMS members.
Depending on the exact course, Heartsaver CPR teaches CPR and the relief of choking in adults, children, and infants, the use of barrier devices, and in some courses the use of an automated external defibrillator. This course is an intermediate CPR course, intended for those interested in learning CPR, want more than the family friends level, or need a certification card for a job/organization.
This course DOES NOT satisfy the CPR requirements for BC nursing students or Boston College EMS Members.
Boston College EMS will be hosting Heartsaver First Aid classes this coming fall semester for $45. After a single 4-hour session, you can become certified in critical skills that are vital to responding to and managing an emergency. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, broken bones, shock, and other first aid emergencies.
